Giving up the swaddle!

Noah in the Jumperoo

Yowza!
We've been squeezing Noah into his Miracle Blanket up until yesterday. Yep, he was squished and jammed into that thing without an inch of fabric to spare. In fact, it was totally stretched to the limit. Well, now, he gets out of it pretty much instantly and I just can't cram him in there anymore. But he slept so well in it!
Soooooo, we sadly moved him into a sleep sack. It's been an epic nightmare thus far...he just doesn't know what to do with himself and his arms flail all around. He rolls over and gets stuck. His paci falls out. Blah blah blahhh.
I figured "hey! I'll just swaddle him in one of those fancy swaddle blankets we got! They are bigger!" I did a good tight swaddle but the stretchy material allowed his little arms to come right out of there. Darn it! He just rolls around the bed and cries as he tries to figure out what to do. sigh. Looks like it's going to be a long few days.
I've decided to just rip this band aid off and continue on with the sleep sack and ween off the paci. He has to learn how to soothe himself and fall asleep on his own. But that doesn't mean it will be easy! There will be tears and screaming and rolling around, and then I'll need to deal with Noah! ha!
Wish us luck. I'm gonna need it.

I've never used the blanket although I considered it for my second daughter... But she is totally pacifier addict and I am not brave enough yet to put her to bed without... She will turn 1 in a few weeks and sleep has been an issue for the last six months, so I'll think about it... later!!
Good luck to you...

Hi! I followed you here from HelloBee and was also a miracle blanket addict. We used it until my daughter from 4.5 months and on the cusp of rolling over. She loves to thrash around and I knew a regular sleep sack wouldn't work so I did a bunch of research and found the Zipadee-Zip. TOTAL LIFE SAVER! It's a wearable blanket handmade by a fellow mom who also had trouble weaning her daughter from MB. We've been using it for over 2 months now and I can't imagine life without it. My daughter also has eczema patches on her cheeks so the covere hands prevents her from scratching it. Maybe it might work for you too? =)

My son just recently (hard to admit) went from a total of seven binkies at night to just one. He only gets it in bed (during nap and at night) and the rest of the time it stays on the top of the fridge. I am not ready for that battle. Eeeek.
