Me and Wee: hairy situation

hairy situation

I'm going to look like this soon if my hair loss keeps up. I read that during pregnancy your scalp retains the hair so you don't shed very much each day like normal. Then, once the baby comes, you supposedly lose the hair you would have shed during the nine months. But it all happens generally at the same time. So, 2 weeks ago when Paige was 10 weeks my great hair shedding started. Holy geez, my hair comes out in clumps as I brush! Then, my hands pull out even more. And it's every day!!! I'm just glad I'd read about this, otherwise I'd be having a coniption. It seems like it might be finally slowing down now, but I'm not sure. Once glance at my bathroom floor would say otherwise. Sometimes I even find one or two in Paige's little fist...like a little prize. My hair is showing up everywhere! I wonder if I can pull off a bald look?

My hair is ALL over the place too lately, I find that Lachlan usually has about 3 long strands somewhere on him at any given moment. I hope it stops soon because it is driving me nuts! :)

I too was losing my hair in massive clumps after the births of my 2 daughters - it is very disconcerting - especially when the driver's seat in the car resembles something from a horror movie!! And then follows the "dry hair period" where no matter what products you use, nothing helps reverse the dryness of your hair. And THEN follows the "really bad regrowth stage" where all the broken/fallen out hair grows back (not a good look either)! Well, now 2 and a half years later I can finally say it is almost back to normal (just a bit greyer!). But as we all know, it was worth it! Keep up the good work!

Hey Megan,

It's Pam! I don't think I ever commented on your blog before, but I just wanted to say that the same thing happened to me on all three of my kids. I actually got paranoid, all three times (you would think I would have learned by the third time)that I had some sort of disease or something because of all the hair I was losing. It eventually stops, but it is kind of scary. I always freak out and start planning scenarios, like on how I'll tell my husband when I come back from the doctors with some terrible news, or who's going to take care of my kids when I'm gone... crazy stuff. All because my hair is falling out after pregnancy. I'll pawn it off on the post pardom hormones! :)

Went through that too! Try not to think about it and def. don't stress over it - stress never helps anything! I alos noticed that my leg, under arm and :) place did not have as much either. I didn't have to shave for over a month! HAve you noticed that at all? I SO wish that would have stayed away!
good luck!
Amy

I'm going through the same thing... I ended up clogging the tub with all the hair I lost. :(

oh man, i had a great hair day yesterday (still pregnant) but it was tainted with the memory that in a couple months it'll all be gone and i'll be trying to convince myself that spending $1000 on hair extensions is actually very reasonable.
ugh. i feel your pain.

Love Mel's comment. So true. I have been in the really bad regrowth stage for a while now. It seems like I have a crown of baby hairs that continue to stick straight up and refuse to fall back with the rest. It really took 2.5 years to be back to normal? Yikes. I'm all about headbands now.

ME. TOO. ugh
The best I could do was part it the other way today and I got some extra lift at the roots. But I feel like I have this thin little sheet of hair. I'm debating going pixie...
